Teachers at State of Yoga (SOY) bring strong and diverse depth of knowledge to the classes we offer. Our diverse backgrounds allow students to experience the common ground of yoga with insights from complementary perspectives.

  Sandrine Kamhi   Sandrine's journey to yoga began in Geneva in 2002, when she was working as a children’s rights consultant for an NGO to improve education and children’s rights. She immediately fell in love with yoga, and before she knew it, yoga became her life.  After years of practicing and studying consistently various styles of yoga, she began on her path as a teacher in 2009, in Istanbul, where she used to live. Since then, she has been completed several trainings in Vinyasa, Anusara, Ashtanga yoga, and naturally Jivamukti yoga to serve her students the best.  In her years of practice as a teacher, she is recognized for her warm presence, positive energy, attitude, and spirit; and she has been teaching classes internationally, organizing workshops and retreats, mentorship programs, taking part in teaching teacher-training courses, and now extremely blessed to have found State of Yoga.  Sandrine's classes, playful and uplifting, create a supportive foundation for students to feel balanced, energized, and confident on and off the mat. She aims to nourish and empower students at every level of practice. Sandrine Kamhi

  Michelle Berlin   Michelle began her path of yoga many years ago which transpired into teaching in 2007. After a car accident created multiple spinal injuries, and her doctors told her the only option was major surgery, Michelle began looking for alternative treatments. She decided to take the lead in her own healing, and began studying and practicing Iyengar Yoga and Krama Vinyasa Yoga. Now her body is in great health and her mind is steady.  While in India , she studied at the Iyengar Himalayan Center to learn yoga therapy techniques to work privately with people with injuries.   Irena Taneva   Born in Bulgaria, Irena loves being in the outdoors and feeling the sense of power and wellbeing that physical exertion brings. Her passion for yoga was born when she start working in a fitness center back in 2008.   Sharon Aluma   Sharon Aluma is a Sacred Visionary Artist recognized for her intuitive gifts as a channel of wisdom. Born into a family that cultivates art, philosophy, ritual and personal development, Sharon has a strong foundation in a universal understanding of life.  Sharon came into her physical yoga practice 18 years ago through Ashtanga and has trained in several linages throughout her life. In her personal healing, she entered into a deep meditation path through shamanic practices. Through her meditation journey, Sharon began working with sound: specifically the gift of Crystal Alchemy Bowls. These bowls open frequencies on a molecular level.  Classically trained in the Fine Arts, Sharon has a unique way of seeing and sharing from an artist's perspective. She has held space for thousands on their road to embodiment. Sharon guides souls into the poetry of their bodies, their breath and helps them cultivate their intuition. Her classes are a full experience, each time you step on the mat you will leave transformed. He traveled extensively the world in search of spiritual guidance and studied with prominent Masters in Ashrams and Monasteries in India and South Korea. On his spiritual path he met Swami Mrityunjaya Tirth ji, the master who initiated him through Shaktipat into the system of Siddha Yoga. The Tirtha lineage of Siddhayoga is a mystical sect of Shaivite Hinduism that relies on direct experience of "Life-force" (Kundalini Shakti) and understanding of Tantric scriptures (shastras).  Over a decade of Ruslan's physical yoga practice, internal work of meditation and scriptural studies came to fruition with synthesis of Akhila Yoga system. This method embraces a holistic, scientific approach to yoga; by working on harmonizing, balancing, healing and strengthening all levels of being; physical, energetic, emotional, intellectual and spiritual. As a teacher she strives to guide students through the whole experience, coupling the physical movement with a deeper more meaningful connection to oneself, one that is available to everyone. Her playful approach will challenge you to move mindfully, focusing fully on the meditation that is the practice, incorporating different sequences of vinyasa flow.

  Amanda Herrera   Amanda took her first yoga class over ten years ago. She came in for the sweat and found a way of life. Chris Borchetta

Chris is an RYT 200 and AcroFit certified trainer from Los Angeles, CA who is passionate about volunteering, wellness and photography. He aims to inspire people to help others and raise their vibrations. His vinyasa classes are a flowing class which focus on deep stretches, proper alignment, gaining strength and flexibility, finding space between thoughts along with how to carry this state of calm into your daily life off the mat.

His Acro Yoga classes on Sunday at 11am focus on fundamentals, technique, building strength, personal connection and FUN!

  Laureano Gil   With a serious passion for sports, Laureano grew up playing rugby and then continued with different sports throughout his life. After a severe injury, he completely changed his life. Laureano started practicing yoga and a new flexibility and ease that he never thought possible. As an avid traveler, Laureano curiously explored many different styles of yoga until he discovered Skanda Yoga and get certified in 2014.  Laureano's classes are challenging on a both physical level and an energetical level but yet open for all levels of yoga practitioners. Laureano's flow is a complete sequence that suits beginners as it allows students to feel the full potential of their bodies through a fast medium pace. Advanced practitioners are afforded a chance to explore various challenging yoga postures and concentrate on their breath, dristis and bandhas to make the body light, ready for meditation.  He knows how to create a safe place for all to practice intensively and he always shares his passion with a big smile, an open heart and a humble attitude.

She's passionate about volunteering with the Surfrider Foundation and is more often than not training for her next race.  Join this yogi athlete when she teaches her Vinyasa Express Class on Saturdays at 9:30am (complimenting Kid's Yoga class held at 9:30am).

Telsys Tarallo

Telsys is a palm tree and beach loving Miami native. She is a passionate yogi, paddle boarder, runner and triathlete, who just recently completed an Ironman. Telsys first practiced yoga over 16 years ago and immediately fell in love with it. She practiced and studied Anusara Yoga for many years, which became the foundation for her practice. For the past 8 years, her focus has been on Jivamukti Yoga. Telsys brings a strong focus to her classes through deep stretching, development of fluidity in movements and creating flexibility for long term health. She's passionate about volunteering with the Surfrider Foundation and is more often than not training for her next race.
